Position Title Sr. Programmer/Analyst

Position Summary

The Senior Programmer/Analyst will be responsible for the analysis, programming, testing, and maintenance of software and interfaces that enhance the university’s Ellucian Banner ERP system and third-party systems. With minimal supervision, works with functional users and other technical staff in facilitating business process reviews, diagramming current and desired state of processes, and identifying and implementing product features in support of business requirements. The position reports to Director, Enterprise Applications University of the Incarnate Word main campus centralized Information Resources Division.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Skills in SQL and/or PL/SQL script writing

Skills in using report writing software to meet business objectives

Critical thinking, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to mentor team members on technical skills

Ability to set priorities, assign tasks, set deadlines, and coordinate projects

Knowledge of and experience using project management methodologies

Ability to act as subject matter expert on enterprise systems which support administrative processes

Ability to learn business processes in order to analyze needs and implement effective solutions

Proficiency in translating business requirements into system concepts, workflow diagrams, functional and technical specifications

Ability to provide both technical and functional system support

Ability to use vendor support lines, knowledge-base, and technical documentation

Ability to manage projects involving functional and technical teams

Experience with document scanning and imaging and workflow tools

Ability to work under stress and to meet deadlines

Effective verbal and written communication

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in the field of Information Systems, Information Technology, or Computer Science or related field.

Required Work Experience

Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and report writing tools

Experience with complex relational database structures

Experience writing application program interfaces

Experience programming business applications

Experience with systems analysis

Experience creating workflow diagrams to capture data transfer, documents and tasks that occur in a work process

Experience creating technical and functional specifications based on business requirements

Experience with quality assurance and testing

Experience supporting enterprise resource planning and administrative systems

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting the Ellucian Banner ERP

Experience creating views of Oracle databases

Experience with Groovy language and Grails java web framework

Experience with portal maintenance

Experience with Banner Document Management Suite

Experience working with Evisions products such as Argos, Intellecheck, and Formfusion

Experience supporting Banner Self-Service and web tailor

Experience with C, PL/SQL, COBOL, Java, PERL, PHP

Experience with workflow products

Experience with job scheduling software

Knowledge of networks and infrastructure

Experience with project management techniques

Experience collaborating effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations


Work Hours

8:00 am – 5:00 PM with evenings and weekends as necessary.

Majority of time is spent in an office environment with some time spent facilitating client meetings in conference room facilities. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
