Position Title Coordinator of Career Services

Position Summary

The Coordinator of Career Services supports learning through a comprehensive career services program encompassing the following areas: employer development, career counseling, job search assistance (resume writing, cover letter writing, interviewing skills, identifying job leads, and using social media, etc.), graduate school counseling and information, internship assistance, and other areas related to career success. These services are provided to current students and alumni. This person will also collaborate with enrollment/admissions, academic departments, and alumni services to promote the career development of our students. The Coordinator of Career Services is a pivotal and highly visible individual, working closely and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and alumni to expand possibilities for student learning, leadership, and employment.

•Build partnerships between the university and external communities (business, the public sector, and not-for-profit entities) emphasizing aggressive development and marketing to expand internship and full-time employment opportunities for all majors.
•Student Advising/Consultation: Provide students and alumni individual assistance in defining career options, developing employment skills, and job-search strategies.
•Employment Training Workshops: Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training and skill development workshops to include resume preparation, job-search strategies, and career information technology including the internet, interview skills, and experiential learning preparation.
•Resource Development: Coordinate resources in support of programming and independent student accessibility including internet, electronic media, employer directories, employment vacancy bulletins, etc.

Description of Job Duties

•Collect and report placement data for internship and full-time opportunities (using email, surveys, phone, etc.) Collaborate with other staff who has oversight responsibility for data collection.
•Assist in the development and maintenance of an effective employer relationship program; participate in the development efforts with regional and national companies through site visits (travel), and marketing; update and revise recruiter-focused materials annually.
•Represent the University of the Incarnate Word at various corporate functions to gain exposure in the greater San Antonio community.
•Assist in the development and coordination of all University of the Incarnate Word career fairs, and affiliated programs.

Job Duty Name Faculty Development (Main Campus)
Description of Job Duties

•Coordinate college specific outreach, programming and customized seminars, workshops, and programs based on student needs assessment and faculty requests.
•Work with and advise faculty and college administrators on methods to enhance the quality of experiential learning/career development and to expand departmental participation.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong interpersonal skills experience with Employers and/or Employment Agencies. Effective Written and Oral Communications, able to collaborate with employers, faculty and students. Understanding of learning outcomes and their relationship to professional development proven success in an area of Career Services. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education

Master’s degree required in Higher Education/Administration, Human Resources, or related field

Required Work Experience

Minimum of four years’ experience in Career Development in higher education or similar industry

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Career Services in Higher Education. Bilingual (Spanish and English).

Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
