Position Summary

The Senior IR Data Analyst/Programmer is an experienced data analyst who supports enrollment management planning, reporting and predictive analytics.

Working collaboratively with enrollment management and other university personnel, the Sr Analyst implements and maintains an innovative and sustainable series of reports that align with the strategic initiatives of a diverse and growing university. As a member of the IR team, the Sr Analyst will participate in data quality and data management activities, as well as lead discussion and data discovery for advanced data analysis and reporting.

The outcome, while focused on enrollment management, will be to serve as an essential member of the university planning and assessment processes and meet required standards for state and federal reporting. The Sr Analyst will strive to master Tableau, SQL and other programming languages, Rapid Insight/SPSS and other statistical packages, and external resources.

Description of Job Duties

1. Assist with the development and maintenance of live and historical data interfaces from Banner

2. Collaborate with staff in Institutional Research, Enterprise Applications, Recruitment and Admissions, Financial Assistance and other enrollment management offices to develop and maintain reporting needs, including statistical models.

3. Expand sustainable automated processes and interactive reporting capabilities to the university community, including providing training opportunities for end users

4. Assist with the continuous improvement of data quality and related audit processes

5. Assist with the completion of NCAA and other state, federal and agency reporting.

6. Maintain excellent communication with management and the IR team on all tasks and projects, to include information resource documentation

7. Perform other duties as assigned


Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Must be an experienced report developer/research analyst who is a detail-oriented, problem solver

Must have the ability to set deadlines, prioritize responsibilities, and coordinate numerous projects simultaneously

Must maintain quality customer service

Must have a strong work ethic with the ability to work independently or as part of a team

Must have strong interpersonal and written communication skills

Must have the the ability to work collaboratively and to share skills with team members, as well as successfully bridge the gap between end-users and technical specialists

Intermediate knowledge of programming and SQL database queries

Intermediate skill building complex electronic reports and statistical models

Expertise with information technology, along with the ability to communicate those subjects to those with less or no expertise

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with people from all levels of the University

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in information sciences, information management, or related field

Required Work Experience

Experience with project management and data warehouse concepts

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in information sciences, information management, or related field

2. Experience working with Ellucian Banner

3. Knowledge of enrollment management process and best practices, including National Student Clearinghouse, US Census and other higher-education data sources.

4. Proficiency with Office 365, including MS Excel

5. Working experience with Tableau Software, Rapid Insight and SPSS

6. Experience with R, Python or other programming languages

7. Expertise working in a higher education setting. Experience within an Institutional Research office is a plus.
